Please ask for Table Mountain maps and/or walking books.
1. Access to the back of Table Mountain – Myburg Ravine
Myburg ravine is a very safe place to walk.
Continue up Hunters way, turn right into Farriers Way. Opposite Makuti Lodge is the pathway. The access code at the gate a few minutes above is 3693. Several routes from the gate. Please ask me for suggestions.
My favourites are:
- Turn left and follow the firebreak into the ravine, cross over the little stream and walk down onto a meadow bordering Ken Heights.
- Continue North up the mountain until you reach a contour path. If you turn left, you can walk to Ryterplatz/Suikerbossie. If you turn right, you come into the Myburg waterfall ravine. Before the stream bed follow the path to the left until you reach the waterfall.

2. Constantia Nek
Either walk along the road to the top or up the steeper pathway to the left, where there are several dams which mark your progress- De Villiers dam is the first on your left with the 3rd dam being the Healy Hutchinson dam. You can walk back the same way or descend Rooikat or down into Cecelia Forest or down Nursery ravine or Skeleton Gorge into Kirstenbosch. You will need an uber home.

3. Chapmans Peak
Only do this walk on weekends, when there are lots of people walking.
Ask for a day pass at the Toll and you walk from the parking area to the left of the check point. The path is obvious – turning at the top to the right to Chapmans Peak or to the left and coming down near the manganese mine.

4. Kirstenbosch Gardens
Stunning botanical gardens displaying the Cape’s unique and varied Flora and Fauna. Treat yourself to a Sunday evening concert at 5.30pm. Picnic baskets and blankets available at Reception.
